About Us

Tesserae Studios is a warm, inviting, inclusive art studio, art gallery and event space. We are located in a beautifully remodeled 1,700 square-foot storefront located at 5346 W. Devon Ave. in Chicago's Edgebrook neighborhood.

Benjamin J. Durst

Tesserae Studios was founded for Benjamin as a place where he can create and sell his art and professionally integrate within the community.

He is an accomplished Chicago artist specializing in mosaics and acrylics and is on the Autistic Spectrum.

Open studio for anyone to drop in for ages 5 yrs and up. Dabble with mixed media including mosaics, painting, drawing and more!

Art Club Monday

Mondays 5 - 8 pm

Don't let Mondays get you down! Come explore your creative side with our wonderfully expressive artist Cat Barr. Regardless of your level of experience, she is there to guide you every step of the way.

Come after school 4-6 pm or after work 6-8 pm.

Classes in Oils

Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Your new obsession will be oil painting when you take classes with the incredibly talented Claire Stephens. Whether novice or skilled, each class will focus on a different aspect of this ancient and luscious medium.

$40 per class if you bring your own supllies or $60 if you use ours.

BYOB optional.

The Friday Night Jam

Fridays 5 - 8 pm

(or whenever the party ends!)

Friday nights are dedicated to the musical arts. All are welcome to grab a mic, pick up an instrument and make some music! We have guitars, a keyboard, percussion instruments and karaoke. Free for everyone! BYOB. First come, first serve, or reserve below.

Chess Lessons

Saturdays 12 - 1 pm

Learn chess or improve your game with chess guru Joey Sofere.

Bottles & Brushes

First Wednesday every month
6:00 - 8:30 pm

It's our paint and sip with a better name! Come and unwind with a libation and a paint brush as you complete a beautiful acrylic painting under the guidance of our skilled artists led by Maeve McGale.

All supplies, light bites and drinks included for only $40 per person. BYOB optional.
